“I was waiting on my beach cruiser bike at a signal protected crosswalk. As soon as I saw the signal to walk, I checked that no cars were coming and started across the crosswalk. Unfortunately a woman “did not see me” and made a left turn hitting me. Even worse, when I arrived at the hospital, the police informed me that I was to be sure to give the hospital my car insurance information. That was the beginning of a nightmare. It seems that Florida is a no fault state. Even though the driver was at fault, and I was on a bicycle, my car insurance had to pay my medical expenses.
