To-Do’s to Check Off When We Fall Back

When Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 1, it’s a good time to take care of twice-a-year home maintenance tasks. After you change your clocks, use the extra hour on Sunday to check off a few to-dos:
To-Do’s to Check Off When We Fall Back
  1. Change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  2. Flip or rotate your mattress.
  3. Wash or replace your pillows.
  4. Inventory your medicine cabinet and pantry and get rid of expired items.
  5. Restock your medicine cabinet and pantry.
  6. Vacuum the coils on your refrigerator and freezer.
  7. Vacuum your clothes dryer vents and duct and make sure the outside vent is clear.
  8. Check and replace filters in heating and ac units, humidifiers, vacuum, as well as the water filter in your refrigerator.
  9. Clean the oven.
  10. Vacuum the fan on your computer, especially if it sits on the floor.
  11. Make sure you have enough batteries.
  12. Reverse your ceiling fans. Summer: counter-clockwise; Winter: clockwise.
  13. Check and clean your gutters.
  14. Winterize exterior faucets.

Remember to turn your clocks back an hour before you go to bed Saturday night and enjoy an extra hour of sleep Sunday!
