Over 188,000 2019 Subarus Recalled for Fuel Pump FailureThe Safety Recall Report 20V-218 is reporting four models of 2019 Subaru: Ascent, Impreza, Legacy and Outback are being recalled. The recalled vehicles were built between June 26, 2018 through Feb. 25, 2019. 188,207 vehicles are affected and 4% are estimated to have the defect.

The Defect

The affected vehicles may be equipped with a lower fuel pump that was manufactured with a lower density. The pump may become cracked and damaged over time leading to low fuel pressure. The lower fuel pump may become inoperable, causing the vehicle to stall, increasing risk of crash and injury.

The Remedy

Dealers will replace the low pressure fuel pump at no cost to owners starting June 5. Subaru will notify affected vehicle owners by first class mail within 60 days.
