Don’t Take a Chance if Your Car Has Takata Airbags

Takata Airbags are defective and now there are MORE recalls you should know about.

A recent article in the Miami Herald says that there are over 900,000 vehicles in Florida with the defective airbags and 17 million in the U.S.

How to See if Your Vehicle Has Takata Airbags

Go to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website and put in your VIN to check if your car is under a recall. You can also check on the SafeAirbags.com website.

If your vehicle is under recall, get it repaired as soon as possible.

Recent Recall Notices

NHTSA recently posted a recall notice for 1.4 million vehicles as a result of a new problem with defective Takata airbags it sold from 1995 to 2000. This latest issue is in addition to the ongoing recall of over 41.6 million vehicles.

This warning applies even if you replaced a defective airbag in 2017 and 2018, because those airbags were replaced with “like for like” airbags that could deteriorate over time and lead to the same hazard.

To date 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured due to Takata Airbags.
