Brake Concerns Lead to Ford F-150 Recall

Over 292,000 Ford F-150 trucks recalled for reduced braking ability

Ford is aware of seven accidents and two injuries.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents Safety Recall Report 20V-332 reporting recalls on 2014-2017 Ford F-150 trucks equipped with 3.5L Ecoboost engine.  Approximately 292,311 total units are affected. 3% are estimated to have the defect. Ford is aware of seven low speed-low impact accidents and two injuries associated with this issue.

The Defect

Brake fluid may leak from the brake master cylinder front wheel circuit into the brake booster. Lowered brake fluid levels can reduce braking function in the front wheels, increasing the risk of crash and injury.

The Remedy

Ford will be replacing the brake master cylinder and the brake booster if need be. Owners will be notified by mail beginning June 29.
