ABC News Investigation Uncovers Hundreds of New Vehicles Sold With Open Safety Recalls

I’ve written previously about used cars being sold without fixing recalls or the dealers not telling buyers about them. Selling used, defective cars and trucks can result in wrongful deaths and personal injuries. An ABC News investigation has recently discovered that it is not only used cars buyers we need to be worried about. Their investigation uncovered hundreds of new vehicles being sold in the U.S. with open safety recalls.
Before you buy a new or used car, be sure to check the vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls, because new and used cars are being sold with open recalls. It’s easy to do and can be done for free by visiting Safercar.gov and entering in the vehicle identification number (VIN) to check for recalls. If there is a recall on your vehicle, the defects have to be repaired at no cost to you, provided the work is done by an authorized dealership for that make of vehicle.
Every day, we at Terrell • Hogan, represent victims of personal injury and wrongful death as they seek justice, and lawsuits we have pursued have prompted safety changes. However, that came after the incidents, accidents and injuries happened. We believe it is important to try to help prevent injuries and wrongful deaths. One way is to publish information about recalls of defective and dangerous products.
